Rock of Ages

He said:  I don't do musicals.

She said:  Well, as most of you know, I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan.  But, I am a fan of musicals.  This sound track ROCKS!!  Mostly because I love 80's music.  This was a typical cheesy story of a girl coming to LA.  It was neat how all the songs played into the story line.  But, I saw this with my teenage daughter and her friend, and was uncomfortable at some of the scenes.  They were blatantly sex scenes, but rather explicit foreplay scenes.  Good movie for a cheesy musical.

Prometheus

He said:  First of all, I loved the first Alien movie, and I love Ridley Scott. I thought the movie was very well done.  I didn't; however, connect with any of the characters and the relationships between the crew seemed forced.  It wasn't as scary as I had hoped, but overall it was a pretty good movie.  Grade:  B-

She said:  I'm not a huge Sci-fi fan, but this was a pretty good movie.  Typical alien flick...this is supposed to be the prequel to Alien.  Had pretty good special effects, and of course, the woman rocks!!  Pretty good if you are a sci-fi nut!

People Like Us

He said:  I really wanted to see this movie, and to be honest, I was a little disappointed.  I wish they would have spent more time developing the story between father and son.  I like Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks, and I think they did a good job with the material they were given.  For me, Michelle Pfeiffer was the best part of this movie.  Her portrayal of the mother was spot on.  She has aged in the movies without plastic surgery, and it shows by the lines on her face.  Lines only developed from real life.  I'd probably wait on the dollar movie for this one.  Grade:  C+

She said:  I liked this movie just ok.  It is about a guy whose dad dies and leaves some money to him.  But, it's not for him, it's for his sister he never knew he had.  I have to say, as you know, I'm not a huge fan of bad language...and this movie had it's share.  Also, I am not a fan of kids cussing in movies!  I just don't see the point.  The 11 year old drops the only F bomb :(.  But, I would say this was a pretty good movie.  I thought Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks did a good job.

Madea's Witness Protection

He said:  Typical Madea movie.  For me this has just about run its course.  I did not like Eugene Levy as the whiny man in the witness protection program.  As usual, Madea was funny, but after the 1000th "hell, damn, hell", it just kinda wears thin.  Wait for the dollar movie.  Grade:  C

She said:  I have to admit, I am a fan of Madea.  She uses some bad language, but boy is she funny.  I liked this movie, it's typical Madea.  This movie is about a family that the mob is after so they hide out with Madea.  She points out that she doesn't mind the family being white, but it's hard to hide 5 white people in her neighborhood.  Tyler Perry does a good job juggling the roles of Madea, Bryan and his dad.  And, I love Eugene Levy.  Good movie to get some laughs on :)
